Iteration 2: "Somewhere
in Between"
Second 1/3 of AI Capstone project: Collaborating with AI Designers
In this project, I explored what it means to collaborate with AI as a designer, rather than simply use it as a tool. Using the design of an asymmetrical jacket as a shared canvas, I worked with multiple anthropomorphized GPT-4 chatbots (Dexter, Elias, and Adrian), each with defined roles and awareness of one another. Image-based tools like Stable Diffusion supported localized edits and visual experimentation. Instead of following a traditional linear process, I allowed the collaboration to guide the direction of the garment, focusing on how intent, authorship, and aesthetics shifted through this interaction. Reflecting back to this project a year later however, I realize that many tasks previously done in Stable Diffusion could now be handled more seamlessly in newer models like GPT-5 and Gemini 3, further expanding the potential of human–AI co-creation in fashion.
